If you're passionate about finishing your dissertation, you know that dedicated writing time can boost both your well-being and sense of accomplishment. But the demands of daily life often get in the way. Join us for our 14-day residential Dissertation Boot Camp in Jaco Costa Rica, January 2027. Immerse yourself in a supportive environment, connect with fellow writers, and focus fully on achieving, and even surpassing, your writing goals!​

Dissertation Boot Camp Overview

• Location: Jaco, Costa Rica, residential home with double/single  occupancy rooms
• Duration: 14 days, January 2, 2027 – January 16, 2027
• Predeparture Zoom sessions—schedule to be determined

Day 1: Arrival and Orientation - Arrive in Jaco and check into your accommodation. Take time to settle in, connect with fellow participants, and join an evening welcome session. Enjoy a light dinner as you get an overview of the boot camp schedule and the resources available to support your writing.

Days 2 - 6: Focused Writing Days

• 7:00-9:00 AM - Beach Exercise & Breakfast: Start the day with an energizing group exercise session on the beach.
• 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Morning Writing Session: Dive into focused writing time with breaks as needed.
• 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Lunch Break on your Own: Recharge with a nutritious lunch, with options to dine solo or chat with peers.
• 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Afternoon Writing Session: Continue working toward your writing goals in a supportive environment.
• 5:30 PM - Sunset Beach - Unwind and stretch out as the sun sets over the ocean.
• Evening Free Time - Enjoy a relaxed evening, dinner on your own, group reflection (share progress and challenges) and recharge for the next day.

Day 7: Excursion to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve - Head to the beautiful Monteverde Cloud Forest, where you’ll explore lush trails and experience Costa Rica's unique biodiversity. Optional activities include the zipline, a canopy tour or visiting the hummingbird gardens. Return to Jaco in the evening, feeling refreshed and ready to continue writing.

Day 8: Explore Jaco & Join Optional Writing Session to Prepare for Week Two

Days 9 - 13: Focused Writing Days

Day 14: Departure - Enjoy a final morning in Jaco. Say goodbye to fellow writers and depart for home feeling accomplished and inspired.

• Roundtrip economy airfare from closest USA major airport
