Christina Baker Kline & Paula McLain in France

From Ernest Hemingway to Frances Mayes to Elizabeth Gilbert, American writers have long been inspired by travel and foreign landscapes to produce some of their best work.
Join us for an unforgettable week in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, in the heart of the French alps, where with this unparalleled natural setting as muse, we will take your writing to the next level, deepening your awareness of physical detail and sensory imagery as powerful tools that can help you turn life into art.
This is a rare opportunity to study with world-class writers in a stunning location that will re-invigorate your commitment to your writing. Every day our group of sixteen women writers will meet with New York Times bestselling authors Christina Baker Kline and Paula McLain for a three-hour workshop. The classes will be a combination of generative writing exercises and small-group critiques in a close-knit and nurturing environment. Sometimes we’ll meet as a group led by Paula and Christina together; sometimes we’ll break into two groups; sometimes we’ll work in twos and threes. Each student will also have the opportunity to meet with Christina or Paula for a one-hour private session. All genres are welcome.
When not reading or writing, we will have ample opportunity to rejuvenate in the deck-side jacuzzi or private sauna, with the beauty of the Alps at our feet. Participants will have their own private en suite accommodations in one of our two luxurious chalets. Each day, our private chefs will prepare regionally-inspired meals for us. Optional excursions include taking a cable car to the summit of L’Aiguille du Midi for a spectacular lunch, exploring nearby walking trails and gorgeous alpine lakes, and shopping and tasting the local cuisine in the charming village of Chamonix, only minutes away by foot.
Christina Baker Kline is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of eight novels, including The Exiles, Orphan Train, and A Piece of The World. She is published in more than 40 countries. Paula McLain is best known for her internationally best-selling novel The Paris Wife. Other titles include Circling the Sun, the memoir, Like Family: Growing Up in Other People’s Houses, and her latest instant bestseller, When the Stars Go Dark. Her work has been translated into thirty-six languages.
