Jamie Ford in France

Jamie Ford in France

A week of creative grandeur with seven fellow writers at a magnificent Château in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards.

Each morning we’ll gather for three hours in one of the castle’s magnificent rooms, or poolside, to workshop beginning chapters, opening scenes, and examine the types of contracts we make with readers on page one. We’ll discuss writing vs. storytelling, ways of immersing the reader, and how to bank and spend emotional currency. Each participant will also have a half-hour private session. All genres are welcome in this generative workshop.

When not reading or writing, we’ll tour the château’s vineyard and enjoy a private tasting. Rest and rejuvenate, or explore wines of the region. We’ll also tour the Citadel of Blaye, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Jamie Ford is the acclaimed author of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, which spent two-and-a-half years on the New York Times bestseller list and won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature. This multi-cultural tale has been optioned for film and stage, and is now read widely in hundreds of schools.

His other bestselling novels include Songs of Willow Frost, and more recently, The Many Daughters of Afong Moy, which has been optioned by Jenna Bush Hager’s production company, Thousand Voices.

His work has been translated into 35 languages.
